Amazon pulls GSH due to "explicit issues"

Just got an email from our digital distributor:
Graphic Sexual Horror on AmazonGraphic Sexual Horror on Amazon
"We just spoke with Amazon, who unfortunately need to pull the film from their storefront given some explicit issues. We will keep you posted on Netflix and everything else. Thanks very much."

Thanks to all of you who rented and watched the film, we were on Amazon's top 10 list of both documentary and independent films for the days it was availabel. You who didn't have time yet, sign up for our mailing list, and we'll let you know of any news as soon as we have them. If is probably safe to say that when it will be available next time, it probably won't be for long either.
The DVD release is planned for June-July. If Synapse can find any stores that will carry it...(I have high hopes that they will, they seem to know their stuff)

IF any of you want to let Amazon.com know that you would like to see the film, please let them know at this link:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/help/contact-us/general-questions.html?ie=UTF8...

And/or add it to your Netflix queue, it is not available yet, nor do we know if it ever will be, but to improve chances...

thanks!

I sent them this email :

the issue is that I would like, and for sure I am not the only one, to purchase the documentary named GraphicSexualHorror... This film IMHO deals with our true freedom of being whatever we feel with consent. The freedom of speech is one of the most important thing in our world and it would be fair that you support it. Thanks for answering. You may put a advertisement about and or hide images and let people appreciate it to let them build their own opinion. Thank you.
I received and answer that seems have been made by a robot :

That's it... Being governed by robots maybe ok but WHO pilot robots ?

AND I HAVE A SERIOUS QUESTION : WHEN IT WILL BE AVAILABLE IN EUROPE ? WE HAVE HERE A SHARED TV (GERMAN-FRENCH) CALLED ARTE (ARTE-TV.COM) WHICH IS ABLE TO BROADCAST AND SELL IT ! WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR EUROPEAN PEOPLE ???

Thank you for writing Amazon.

Thank you for writing Amazon. We don't know at this time when it will be available in Europe, would have to find somebody willing to sell it. A dvd release is scheduled for June. Arte-tv.com looks interesting, are they wiling to deal with such an explicit film? From what I could see at the website, there was no other sexually explicit films. But my French is not that great. If you have any insight please let me know, we would love to get the film out to everybody. Anna

Arte

Hi Anna, I´m from Germany and I really would like to see your documentary.
Arte is a good Idea, maybe you should give it a try. Maybe they are willing to place it on their site.
An other idea is Amazon in Europe, or Schlagzeilen.com
Schlagzeilen is a german (bondage) publisher.
If the don´t want to publish it, they eventually know someone else. Best wishes from Europe

Hi, This development is very,

Hi, This development is very, very disappointing, another action that goes against our eroding freedoms.

I have been thinking on distribution methods, though you may have already thought of these I feel better suggesting them to you in hopes that the World, or those in it, who would like to choose to watch the film can get to see it.

Some form of online distribution through their own site or through a sponsorship deal with an adult or more accepting and less mainstream VOD solution. The technology to distribute it through your own site is that complex or intense, in fact it can be done with very little resource and at very little cost. All that would be required is to set up a site in which people could subscribe and download the film either in parts released through the month or in whole. I'm pretty sure that some of these adult vod providers would not be adverse to sponsoring the release through their service, even though it is not typically an adult product.

There is the method of torrent release, you could release the DVD image file as torrent. People would purchase the torrent and download the image from you at their leisure, if even a few people commit to seeding it on your behalf from their machines this will ease your servers and hosting. I would commit to seeding for you.

A torrent can be encrypted too ensuring that the torrent has been purchased and sent directly by a rep of GSH.

There is then the self-distribution and mail-order route, bit more costly, but you can run off dvds and sell them through a site, finding a payment processor would be difficult but you could have an offline ordering system using cheques/postal orders and distribute it like the old days.

Personally, to get the film out there, I believe the torrent option is the best and least expensive way forward.

I'd be happy to help you out in anyway possible, I'm very interested in seeing the film and would be distraught if it never saw a release due to the censoring bodies. Also, I'd be equally as unhappy if you had to compromise your hard work just to get it out there.

Feel free to hit me up if you'd like to chat.

Kind Regards,

Ben Yates

Hi Ben, Thank you for your

Hi Ben, Thank you for your ideas and insights on distribution. Right now, we have a signed contract with one digital distributor, and one for dvd (that is scheduled for June), and cannot legally self distribute, until they give up finding outlets. When the dvds are ready, we will be able to sell them off out site, according to the contract.
We wanted the platform to be as mainstream as possible, so that the film could reach more people. The question is if that will ever work, and we will see.
I the end, we may have to do it ourselves Best, Anna

Re: Distribution

I loved Insexm. I was a huge, huge, huge fan. I only *just* found out this documentary existed and I've been searching for a way to get a copy . I'd like to use it as part of an ongoing project. See, I'm part of a community group that focuses on educating people about their rights and how their rights are being violated, how laws that seem to make perfect sense in some instances are used as precedence for violations of the constitution, etc. We get judges, lawyers and cops to do public speaking for various sexual freedom groups and I'd loooooove to do a "movie night" once a month featuring documentaries such as this one. However, I can't get a copy. They just don't exist. I couldn't even find one on eBay. I really don't see why you guys don't distribute the film yourselves. There are tons of BDSM community websites that would be perfect advertising venues. Kinksters would be the most likely to make the purchases and we don't usually go looking for kink-related stuff on Amazon.com. I saved it to my netflix que, but I wouldn't have thought to look there for this type of film, either, and I've been a member for *ages*. It'd be horrible if you guys couldn't make any money from the project. I'm not sure what your future goals are. Do you want to make more documentaries in the future? If so, then making sure this one was viewed would be really important just for the exposure. It would also be pretty righteous: you'd be providing vital information to the whole world. So there are at least 2 benefits to putting the film on like, BitTorrent and such. If you can't figure out how to make money off of it (which I can't actually imagine) then you may as well get what you can from it. Odds are, one of those who were lucky enough to get it from Amazon will end up sharing it on a P2P anyway. If *you* do it yourself it'd be like viral marketing. I'll be sure to post links to this site everywhere I blog and stuff. I'll also send it to a ProDomme I know that's pretty infamous and knows how to exploit social networking sites phenomenally. However, unless you can produce the film for purchase, I'm not sure it will help. If you can produce DVD copies for about $10 plus shipping and downloadable versions for about $5, you could get a LOT of sales in a short period and just use GoogleCheckOut to collect the money. You could start on small storefront sites like eCrater.com (free) and then if it gets shut down it's no big Wah: you just use a different computer/account and do it again. The whole thing being underground like that would be a huge appeal to lots of people, not just the kinksters of the world. Anyway, that's my rant and some ideas. Hopefully it was at least a little helpful. <3,
